I did not know the victims of the shootings deaths that transpired in Atlanta. I do not know why the shooter did it. I don’t know why guns abound in the hands of those who might use them.
I do know that sons lost mothers. I know that women and man went to work and never returned home. Patrons who had hoped for a relaxing massage found a different outcome. Life stopped for 8 unsuspecting humans. The rest of us are left to process or disavow the news.
I think for me something I know I can do is this : I can be a touch more sensitive to my Asian friends and peers. I can try to be more gentle and tread carefully. I can go out of my way to inquire into their health and well-being.
  • I can choose to stand with even as I may not be grieving as deeply as others may be. Because I do not need to be affected deeply to be affected conscionably.
  • I can learn to stand against racist acts or suggestions of such and be a safe place for those in need.
  • I can learn to be on the correct side of history where oneness and kindness replace division and hate,  so we may all, perpetrator and victim alike, be liberated.
Always,
Dr. Abha ♥️
